Mauve and Stone Wedding Inspiration on Style Me Pretty

We see so many combinations of blush and creams with wedding flowers, which is beautiful, but for this inspiration shoot with Mirelle Carmichael Photography, we wanted to provide inspiration for couples with a new color palette that gives the same soft and romantic feel but with a little more color. This shoot incorporated the dusty pastel hues of mauve, lavender and even foliages which give a dusty grey and purple-lavender hue.  For the flowers we used some less commonly seen blooms like the hellebores in antique, astrantia in the mauve color, which gives movement and delicacy to the arrangements and then mixed in some of your more commonly used flowers, like the amnesia roses, pink lace garden spray roses and foliages like the fern and jasmine vine to soften the look.

Bohemian Bridal Bouquet
Bohemian Bridal Bouquet

The Bohemian Love Inspiration shoot was developed by the creative ladies at the Queen's Bees and the photos are from the amazing Mirelle Carmichael Photography.  As a floral designer these types of shoots are what get the juices flowing and remind us why we love "playing with flowers".  After all a bohemian is a free-spirited, open-minded artist, so this was a perfect expression of my passion. For the flowers, I wanted to blend in textural elements with pops of color and a whimsical feel, to emulate the free-minded bohemian.

Bohemian Table Setting
Bohemian Table Setting

I choose the bouquet to be placed inside the horn to give the bride a rustic woodland feel. The flowers for the bouquet were protea pink minks which have a great fuzzy texture and blend well with the feathers seen through out the setting and of course the hanging green amaranths give the bouquet a free-flowing feel and compliment the head-piece created by Asha from the Queen's Bees.

The tablescape was created with pops of color and lots of texture with feathers, carnations (yes I said carnations, but I bet you didn't even know that those beautiful pink flowers in the center were carnations), trailing clematis vine and natural moss as the "linen" on-top of the wooden pallet.

The tent on the beach had a welcoming hanging antler mounted with beaded hypericum berries, garden roses, hanging amaranthus and beaded hypericum feathers flowing down.

Thank you to the lovely ladies for including me on this inspiration shoot and I hope all you lovelies enjoy viewing it!

Cheers,

The Little Stars of Weddings- Flower Girls & Ring Bearers

Flower girls and ring bearers, they are the shinning stars following in the light of the bride and groom on a wedding day. The playfulness of having children in your wedding reminds us of how we used to daydream of our wedding day and how life is so simple as a child. They create a sense of ease and playful unpredictably sometimes, but somehow children walking down the aisle always seem to create smiles among your guests. One of my favorite part of creating florals is designing pieces for flower girls and ring bearers.  I always love to include a playful, whimsical factor for the flower girls and make them something that they can take home and have long after the wedding. Flower scepters, also called flower wands have become a favorite of mine to create and the girls love them! Here are a few examples;

This one was created for my Etsy Shop, Noonan's Designs, and is created with natural wood sola flowers, light grey felt petals, pearls and feathers, great for all ages and very lightweight.

This adorable flower girl was part of the bride and groom's modern black and white wedding, but the wand still created a fun look for her to carry down the aisle.

Onto the ring bearers, typically couples will just opt for a small boutonniere for them, but when you want to get creative there are lots of options for ring bearers. Choose a creative pillow, bible accents, wooden discs and much more can be created "to carry rings". Here is a great moss covered pillow we've created that would be perfect for a woodland wedding. It's also sold on our Etsy store and created with preserved sheet moss, burlap, a sola flower, and accents of birch branches and feathers.

So when your planning your upcoming wedding don't forget to talk to your florist about creating something special for these little ones, because often times they are in the spotlight, right next to the bride of course!
